  • Prof. Indira Dutta is an Associate Professor in the Centre for Studies in Economic and Planning, School of Social Sciences, Central University of Gujarat. She has received M.A and Ph.D degree from Patna University, Patna. She has long teaching experience as well as research experience in Environmental Economics, Labour Economics and Regional Economics.
  • She is the author of the book entitled “Poverty to Empowerment” published by Allied publishers Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi in September 2011. She has co-edited a book with Dr. Vinod Sen entitled “Contemporary Issues of Indian Economy” published by Segment Books, New Delhi in 2013. She has also co-edited a book with Prof. Miriam Kennet entitled “Green Economics in India” in 2014, The Green Economic Institute, Reading, The Royal County Berkshire, U.K.
  • She has worked in three major research projects.
  • Worked with Prof. Indira Hirway in the project entitled “Globalization, Labour Markets and Gender Inequity: A Cross National Project in Asia”. It was funded by the UNDP Regional Centre in Colombo which was undertaken by the Centre for Development Alternatives, Ahmedabad in the year in 2006.
  • Awarded a project by Indian Council of Social Science and Research entitled "An Evaluation of Development Policies for Vizag Tribals in Andhra Pradesh and Dahod Tribals in Gujarat" on 15th March 2012. Prof. Meera Lal worked in Vizag district of Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Indira Dutta worked in Dahod district of Gujarat. This project report was submitted to Indian Council of Social Science and Research on 30th May 2013.
  • Currently she is working with Dr. Conor Cradden in a project entitled “Governance by Contract” funded by Institut d'études politiques et internationals, Géopolis, Université de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland
  • She was awarded dollar 500 for the paper “Green Federalism: A Historic Leap towards Sustainable Human Development” in an International conference at Jakarta in2012 organised by Human Development Capability Association, Boston, USA.
  • She has got a certificate of merit for outstanding performance for the paper entitled “Gandhian Green Paradigm: A New Vision for Sustainable Development” in International Green Economics Conference at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, 2014 ,organised by Green Economics Institute, Reading, The Royal County Berkshire, U.K.
  • She is the life member of Indian Society of Labour Economics, New Delhi.
  • She is a member of Green Economics Institute, Reading, The Royal County Berkshire, U.K.
  • She is a member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Green Economics.
  • She is the chairperson of Gender Sensitization Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) of Central University of Gujarat.
