About Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a flagship programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, which aims to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth.

It is a voluntary initiative and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) across the country can apply to be part of the programme. Central University of Gujarat has been selected as one of the participating institutions to contribute towards rural development through this initiative.

The programme aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and new economic realities. UBA enables academics to work with rural communities, identify their problems and co-create solutions to accelerate sustainable growth.

Objectives of UBA

UBA Scheme Details

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is designed as a comprehensive programme that connects Higher Educational Institutions with rural communities for mutual benefit and sustainable development.

Institutional Participation

Higher Educational Institutions across India can voluntarily participate in this programme. Each participating institution adopts a cluster of at least 5 villages within a radius of 30 km from the institution.

Community Partnership

The programme emphasizes building long-term partnerships with rural communities, understanding their challenges, and co-creating sustainable solutions.

The implementation involves systematic engagement with villages through baseline surveys, need assessment, intervention planning, and continuous monitoring and evaluation of development activities.
